Writer's block Isn't only frustrating but extremely disheartening. For a writer that enjoys her craft, I have to say that at times it has made me question my career choice. It happens to the best as well as the worst of us, and no one truly knows the cause of it. Some psychologists think that writer's block is caused by anxiety or the lack of emotional fuel. Which basically means if you aren't emotionally connected to the topic then your creative flow could diminish.

We may not know what causes this nuisance to occur, but there are some proactive steps that writers can take to help conquer the fowl beast.

1. They are a creative and interesting bunch

There should be no argument that writers are a creative and interesting people. During their free time, you can usually catch them scribbling notes in their booklets about ideas that they'd want to include in their latest novel or article. These eccentric groups of people aren't limited to the everyday drudgery that encompasses the daily life of the average joe. Oh no, they are typically lost in a world all their own. I mean this in the literal sense. Writers don't only write about far away places they daydream about them too. How else could they write about such realistic adventures?

2. Always on the quest for knowledge

To acquire knowledge one must do their research. Writers don't limit themselves to covering topics that they're previously familiar with so their google history might look a little scary. A typical search history might look something like this: "How to pick a lock", "Quick ways to hide a dead body" or " How to seduce a married man" This creative soul is probably writing about a murder mystery or a steamy romantic drama and shouldn't be held accountable for their search entries. Because those novels won't write themselves.

3. Writers don't need you

It's a simple and sad truth that most writers are introverts and being an introvert simply means that they don't look to others to fulfill their social needs. Writers are great at entertaining themselves and honestly, they prefer to do just that. They are capable of enjoying the company of others, just like anyone else but let's just say that if they were stuck on a deserted island, they wouldn't die of loneliness. A book, a laptop, some internet access and an endless supply of coffee and chocolate would be the only items in their survival kit.

4. Kill off the haters

Another amazing aspect of being a writer is the ability to legally rid yourself of real life enemies. If there's someone that bugs the crap out of you just shove them inside your book and create the slow painful torturous death that would surely piss them off and grant you countless hours of joy reading about.

5. I.N.D.E.P.E.N.D.E.N.T

Writers are independent thinkers. This means that they are too busy making waves of their own to be worried about what the next person is doing, or thinking. They don't take the word of others. If they aren't sure about something guess what they do? They look it up. Writers have one thing in common and that's the quest for truth. These creators take solace in knowing that whatever question is worth asking is worth seeking the answer to. They're willing to go the extra mile to find the answers that they're looking for and because of this amazing quality, they continue to be one of the most intelligent beings on the face of the earth.

It's true. Everyone has something special about them and are all crafted to be unique in our own way. But writers are drizzled with that extra layer of madness that makes them a joy to behold and a force to be reckoned with.
